The Eastbourne Community is Growing!

The picture above was taken at the end of the first training event for the Eastbourne abandofbrothers community. It was an amazing weekend. Here’s a quote from one participant:

I believe it will do a huge amount to benefit me in the way I see relationships with other people especially young men. Having done youth work when I was a lot younger and left felling very inadequate, I now feel as though I have gained a huge amount of knowledge which will enable me to give something back to my community.

We are currently looking for another 10 men to join our growing community of mentors.

The first stage of getting involved is to attend an intro evening. At the evening you will get the opportunity to:

  • Find out what you can expect from us in terms of training and support
  • Find out what we expect of you in terms of time commitment and ways of working
  • Hear from exisiting members of the abob community about their experience and get a chance to ask questions
  • At the end of the evening, make an informed choice about whether abob is for you and whether you can realistically commit

The next evening is:

Dates:  Thursday 27th Feb, 7pm to 9pm

Venue: Eastbourne Blind Society, 124 Longstone Road, Eastbourne, BN22 8DA

The next stage would be to invite you to attend the Beyond the Hero training from 6pm Friday 14th March to 3pm Sunday 16th. If you are reasonably sure that you want to join, it may be worth putting the date in your diary now. If you are not able to make that date but want to find out more then please feel free to come also – there are some opportunities to contribute that do not require you to have done the weekend.
